Civilization IV Course Information

VERY IMPORTANT!!! After you load your game, but before you begin play, you need to go to the following website and update your software with the following patch: http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/downloads.htm. Scroll down on the page to v1.61 Patch and follow the instructions to download the patch. It is a very simple thing to do and should take about 2 minutes to complete.

You might want to refer to the Civilization IV website or any of the fan websites http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/civilizationiv/index.html or http://pc.ign.com/objects/620/620513.html, for example, for more information, strategies, hints, etc.

PLAY LOG INFORMATION

For each play log, you need to indicate the following information:

The Basics:

What civilization you chose
What tendencies your civilization has (scientific, spiritual, belligerent, etc)
Why you chose this particular civilization
Total game time in hours/minutes played
At what year did you end and to what Age did you advance?

Game Info:

Log all major events, including
- Advancements achieved (wonders, scientific advancements, new Age, etc)
- Declarations of war
- Diplomatic encounters
- Declarations of peace
- Trade agreements
- Setbacks for your civilization (city falls into civil disorder, city captured, city opts to join another civilization, etc)
For these major events, you need to log the following:
- Year
- Event
  - brief description - if diplomatic, list attitude of those with which you were interacting
  - always indicate whether you initiated the event or it was initiated by another civilization
- Details / Comments
  - enter in details of event if necessary and any comments

***You might want to create a table to fill in the information as you play

Here's an example. Let's say that it's 1800 and you decided to check in on the Celts, French, and Egyptians. After some negotiation, you agree to give the Celts a world map in exchange for 5 gold units and enter into an alliance with the French. You couldn't reach a deal with the Egyptians. Here is an example of how you might log your information:

· Entered into negotiations with the Celts (cautious), French (gracious), and Egyptians (furious)

· Traded with Celts and French; couldn't reach a deal with Egyptians.

· Made 20-year alliance with French.

· The Egyptians have continually been entering in my territory and they're really starting to anger me. I think they might be ready to declare war (though the French alliance should help me balance out their power).
