Comedy Analysis
Using the precepts about classical comedy provided at <http://www.nku.edu/~rkdrury/classicalcomedy.html>, write a 2-page analysis the Aristophanes' Lysistrata. Pay particular attention to how the play does or does not fit Aristotle's ideas about comedy as a genre (as it compares with tragedy), what comic devices Aristophanes uses, what should be funny but isn't (because we don't share some cultural values and contexts with the classical Athenians), and what is still funny to an audience in our culture today. Your analysis should be written as an essay, with a recognizable point to make and with evidence to back up what you say. See grading criteria.
