Taming of the Shrew

Acts III-V

  1. Who is the shrew in ToS?  Does the identity of the shrew change?
  2. Would Petrucchio's strategy work as well today as it would have in Shakespeare's time?  Why or why not?
  3. Petrucchio and Katherine both make speeches about the responsibilities of a wife in marriage.  In what ways do their comments reflect the Elizabethan/Renaissance world view?
  4. Compare the two productions of ToS.  What did you like about each?  What did you dislike?  What were the sources of comedy in the two productions?  Did they differ?
