Liver converts food into humours
Humours generate "vital heat," which are mediated to the body
by 3 kinds of spirit
Natural spirits
l Vapor formed in the liver, carried with humours through veins
Vital spirits
l Heart acts on natural spirits using heat and air of lungs, carrying life and heat
through the arteries using a nobler kind of blood
Animal spirits
l Vital spirits are carried to the brain, where they partake of the body and soul.
