| The Day hike through
the rain forest was one of the most memorable experiences of the entire
trip! We started out the day at the main lodge, where while we were waiting, our tour guide Everest noticed that there was a momma whale with her baby splashing around in the ocean off in the distant morning horizon. |
||

These two fine gentlemen were our tour guides through the Rio Claro Wildlife Refuge. Everest was our lead, stopping to show us all of the important aspects of the Tropical Rain Forest, including the natural items locals use. Steven was new to the job, but no novice when it came to the rain forest! |

| More From Our Day Hike | |||
 This is the beginning of our journey. We started out on flatter terrain following the creek bed. The gravel here was dark and volcanic, but the rocks here had been licked smooth over the centuries! |
 As we hiked to the big tree, the group stopped to identify the birds and insects along the way! Everest was just FULL of information! |

 All the hard work pays off as we stare with shock-n-aw and rest in the belly of the beast (a.k.a. the snake pit formed by the tree's massive buttresses)! |

 After the big tree, we follow Everest down the steep hill. |
Then on our way out we were confronted by some awfully territorial white faced capuchin monkeys. Everest advised us to shake the trees and show our dominance |
