CARTAGO

On our way back to San Jose, we got the chance to stop in Cartago to see a cathedral. It was amazing looking. All the windows inside were all stain glass, each telling a story in the Bible. As you first walk in the one thing you notice is a huge line or pews. So many people were sitting in them pray. The cross that sat on the pulpit was covered for symbolic reasons. We were told that on Easter it would be uncovered.

The church was founded on this story about a little girl. She was getting wood for a fire and she found this doll so she took it home. The next day she was out doing the same thing and found another. She was so excited to find a second doll so she took it home to realize the other was missing and it was the same doll. This time she locked it up in a box. She went out again and found another one. When she returned home, again it was the same doll. Confused, the little girl went to a preacher and told him about. He did the same thing, locked it up, and when the little girl returned the next day with it he knew that it was a sign from God telling him to build a church there and they did.

In the bottom part of this cathedral there were walls and walls full of all these little charms. Each charm represented an answered prayer. They were in all shapes and sizes from a leg to a baby. It was really neat seeing all these charms when you knew that the person it belong to was healed in some way.
